The SCAMP Framework Vol.2: Mastering Dark, Epic and Retro AI Video Prompts
The SCAMP framework works across every genre — but each genre in Vol.2 uses it differently. Here is how.
If you used the SCAMP framework with Vol.1 for sci-fi, anime and fantasy prompts, you already know its power. But the five genres of Vol.2 — horror, mythology, romance, sports and retro — each have specific nuances in how they apply the framework. Understanding those nuances is what separates good prompts from great ones.
Horror: The Wrong Detail in Every Element
In horror, every element of SCAMP should contain something slightly wrong. The subject description should include the uncanny detail. The camera should be positioned to create vulnerability. The atmosphere should have the wrong sensory element. The mood should name the specific type of dread.
A perfectly normal family having dinner, except one family member's food has not been touched and no one appears to notice. Wide static, warm domestic dinner light. Collectively wrong, normalised absence, the detail that cannot be unseen.
Mythology: Scale Is Everything
Ancient mythology prompts require a specific approach to scale. The gods must be genuinely larger than life. The ceremonies must feel genuinely sacred. The architecture must feel genuinely impossible by human standards alone.
The Colosseum at full capacity, 80,000 voices making the sound a physical force, the gladiators tiny in the sand below, Rome itself visible beyond the upper tiers. Ultra-wide aerial then ground level, Roman noon. Scale, collective spectacle, ancient entertainment at its peak.
Romance: Name the Hesitation
Romance and drama prompts reach their peak when they describe the moment before the action rather than the action itself. The hand almost touching. The breath before the words. The look held past the point of plausible deniability.
Two people at the exact moment both realise simultaneously that the other feels the same way, neither moving, the recognition itself the most significant thing that has ever happened in this ordinary cafe. Static medium, warm afternoon cafe light. Recognition, suspended, before everything changes.
Sports: Specify the Exact Moment
Sports prompts work best when they name the specific fraction of a second. Not the jump — the peak of the jump. Not the punch — the point of maximum impact. Not the finish — the last step before the line.
The exact millisecond of release in an Olympic pole vault, the athlete at maximum height, the bar not yet disturbed, the pole at its maximum bend, everything in the balance. Ultra-slow motion freeze, athletics. Physics, leverage, the held moment before outcome.
Retro: Get the Light Right
Every decade has a characteristic light quality. Super 8 from the 1970s has warm oversaturation. VHS from the 1980s has a blue-tinged cool and soft edges. CRT screens cast a specific green-tinged glow. Name the specific light of the specific era.
A family watching their first colour television in 1968, the screen's light transforming the room, their faces reflecting the colour broadcast, the wonder of the technology visible. Static living room, CRT colour warmth. Era-defining technology, collective wonder, first colour.
